Exploding Apple Iphones, WTF?

August 19th, 2009

This morning I was watching the news on t.v. when I heard the anchorman say something that immediately snatched a hold of my attention. Apparently in an isolated incident overseas some poor kids Iphone exploded for what ever reason. I haven’t had a chance to look into it further, but exploding cell phones usually catch my attention.

I wonder if cell phone wholesalers worldwide have heard of this case. Never the less, if any of you guys out there have heard about this case or know more drop some comments in the inbox. I did buy iphone 3g unlocked online and had no problem. The tv man made a joke that he wondered if there was an app for that? (to make the phone explode.) Though I felt a little guilty, I have to admit that I chuckled.

But seeing how the apple iphone is probably the most popular cellular phone in the world and easily in the U.S., this is definitely news that should be taken very seriously. I don’t anticipate this hurting the sales of used or refurbished Iphones, but you never know with these type of incidents.

One of my buds joked that, Apple may be sick of discovering their phones jailbroken and unlocked an may have put out a “warning” if you will to all. LOL, that is a bit on the conspiracy kooky side for me but to each his own I suppose. The funny thing though, this is the same guy who hopes that someone can find a way to unlock the iphone for metro pcs.

At first I thought it was a long shot, but now with Blackberry being available onĀ  Metro Pcs, you never know. I’m curious to see how long the Iphone remains exclusive to AT&T here in the United States. I know a lot of people are clamoring to be able to use it on T-Mobile and others.

I have been hearing rumbles that Verizon may be coming out with its version of the Iphone in conjunction with Apple. I don’t have much info at the moment but I will keep this blog up to date with the info that I get. Since its supposed to be a model made specifically for Verizon wireless, I wonder how it will differ from the AT&T unit. I’m sure it will be 3g or whatever the fastest speed available when it is released.
