Question by Jacob: Iphone 3gs “could not activate cellular data network”…wtf! Help!?
I have an iphone 3gs that has always worked fine. Now I can’t use any apps or get online only get calls and texts. When I try to open a browser it says “could not activate cellular data network”….”you are no subscribed toa cellular data service.” Amusing b/c 1) yes I am I always have been and 2) my brother on the same plot has his phone working fine.
I have the current firmware. I’ve turned it on and off. I’ve even restored it w/ Itunes. No dice.
I have 2 questions:
1) What do I do to fix this?
2) If you don’t know…who would I even call to get help? Apple? AT&T?

This sounds like one of those questions where AT&T will says its Apple, and Apple may well says it’s AT&T. I’d start with AT&T as they now and again have to reset something on their end (then you get to restart your iPhone to see if it worked). If that doesn’t take care of it, then I’d contact Apple. If you call AT&T from a different phone, then they should be able to get you over to the right part of Apple so you (probably) don’t have to clarify everything from the beginning.
Excellent luck!
